I have been trying to find all the varieties of porcelain jasper but I am getting no where on the Internet. I know there is imperial, Willow creek, exotica but I am drawing a blank for any others. I have one that looks similar to Owyhee with tan bands and a light hew of pink. Think it may be owyhee? I would show pictures but with my new operating system, I am not having luck cutting the photos down to size or even moving then to a folder I want them in.

Fran, I believe Mookaite is a porcelain jasper.

How about Mexican Bulico Porcelain Jasper. I just saw it on the web. Purple-ish.

Bruneau, Carrasite, Deschutes, Hart Mt., Morrisonite, Willow Creek, Sci-Fi.
Some of the old Biggs, Owyhee and Blue Mt. also would fall into the category of "porcelain," though a significant amount of what was/is now on the market never rose to that level. Some would add vistaite to the list (technically not a jasper, though it polishes up with the best of them), and mookaite certainly also qualifies in my book. Interestingly, the Mexican jasper which is sold as "Porcelain Jasper" usually isn't the same quality as the best of the others listed (don't readily produce the same glassy finish, frequent soft areas, etc.).

Thank you so much! I suspect I have a set of old owyhee i am working on and most Owyhee I have is not quite up to that porcelain level. This seems to be. Fran

A couple of other less common porcelain types are Mojave Jasper from AZ, Fryite Jasper from Idaho, Tracenite Jasper from Lakeview, Oregon, Bat cave ( Rim Jasper) from Oregon, Anastasi Jasper fro the Owyhees, Empyrean Jasper from Succor Creek and an unnamed form from the Hauser Beds t-eggs. I believe there are also several t-egg type porcelain jaspers from Oregon Like Buchanon egg jasper, Royal Eyes Jasper, and several other orby egg types form other beds....Mel

Wow. I didn't think about those Mel! I think I need to write a list and keep handy. I will post what I am working on as soon as I get them finished. The ones that I think may be Owhyee are some preforms I had cut from a slab I got when I first started doing this, so I really can't remember. Thanks everyone! Fran
