Ed, do you cab both sides the heart and then glue them together and are they cabbed on both sides? Just trying to wrap my brain around your process.
the two halves are roughed out into the profile
I call these 2 halves angel wings
2 angel wings joined together makes a whole heart
Before these 2 halves are
epoxy together
I zip a groove
On the faces of the joining halves
The 2 zipped grooves, when joined together,
ends up being pre-drilled hole
once the halves are joined together
Drilling out the epoxy, from the pre-drilled hole,
after the heart is ground and finished is a breeze.
Compared to trying to drill a tiny hole in whole stone,
I think
So after the heart is epoxy together
I do all the grinding
Double domed! Back to front!
Its is amazing how strong the epoxy bond is
It can withstand that whole grind process
I have 10-year-old hearts, left purposely outside, in the brutal Arizona sun that are still held together.
I swear some of these hearts I can’ t snap apart by hand.
Amazing how strong the epoxy bond is on rock 1/4” thick rock slab joint.
Its also why I say a little rock as lots of heart.
Two small pieces of rock e joined together
Make quite a heart pendant.
Does any this make any sense, Robin?
Thanks Ed
