I bought what was pretty much a heel cut of a good solid piece of larimar on E-bay for my wife who loves this stuff. I ground it to 1/4" thickness then let wife pick out a template or design her own. Another Tonyterner template here. It was an easy rock to work and make shine. Hope you enjoy! Attachments:

It came from a heel cut of pretty solid material I found on E-bay for $15 with free shipping. A small price to pay to keep the wife happy huh? Now she wants me to laern siversmithing to make a ring for her. Maybe oneday I`ll be able to get it done.

That's a beauty. I love larimar but I haven't cabbed it yet.

I don`t have near the experience as many of these guys here but this material was very easy to work with. It is soft enough to shape easily but hard enough to take a good shine rather easily with no undercutting. I sometimes hit my cabs with a little cerium oxide after I finish them on the diamond polisher but in this case I left it alone. 50,000 mesh diamond paste got this shine which I don`t think cerium would be able to help out anymore. I would have to say this is a good stone for most folks to work with no problems. I was kind of worried after hearing some people talk about having to stabilize it. I have had this piece for almost 2 months before I finally got the nerve to attempt it. Let`s say I conquered that fear. I am totally happy with the outcome but even better is the wife loves it! Thanks for the comments folks.
