My friend Mike came down from Montana to go rock hunting for the weekend as it was the only long weekend he had coming for quite a while. Saturday we met up with Roy and his wife Bonnie out in the Owyhees for some jasper hunting.
Roy sayin Hi yall
Mike checkin out some rocks up close
Bonnie and Roy looking for that one special one to take home
Here comes the rain, time to get out of the hills
We went home grabbed a shower and unloaded the truck before we started on the next leg of out trip. The Biggie we brought home, this one broke in half so Roy got half and I got half
The jasper haul
Next leg of our trip was out to Texas Springs in Nevada to dig for pink limbcasts. We got a few hours of digging in on Sunday and then had to set up the tent in the rain because we just couldn't pull ourselves out the hole.
Some of the holes go pretty deep
This was all hand dig over the past few years.
Mike doing a little road hunting
Sunset on Sunday night
Monday dawned bright and clear, made for a great day of exploring.
We found that we did better by walking around and picking up all the pieces the rain storm had exposed on the surface. Got a couple of 5 gallon buckets full of smaller pieces but no big limbs this trip.
On the way out Monday afternoon we stopped to check out an old jasper mine which has been pretty much mined out and then farther down the road we checked out an old onyx mine which seemed to still has some stuff left in it, we just picked up a couple of pieces to try cutting and see if it is worth checking out farther.

Was a fun weekend with some great friends...............Tony
