Aside from rhodonite, what is there that fits that dark pink category? Want to make a cab for someone.

All I can think of are some of those dyed agates . . . some rhodochrosite is pretty dark, but not THAT dark, more dark rose.

Like eudialite, but not so expensive I guess. Agua nueva is super pricey too. It's a damn conspiracy.

Thulite comes in pink and black. How big of a piece do you need? I have a little that I would share. Jim

This is a found in the creek pink granite I did a while ago. It turns up a kind of salmon colour that is quite nice. Not too showoffy and lots of small detail so you could do most anything with it. Attachments:

Stichtite can be interesting (a bit of chatoyancy), and sugilite is a similar color. Purpurite might also do (though it is on the soft side). Anything colored by manganese would fall into that color range, including some jaspers (though those usually come with a pattern). In the jaspers, you might look at mookaite, kinradite/oregonite, Imperial, poppy and myrickite. Cab-grade corrundum, hexagonite, morganite and umba garnet can also be hot pink. If it is a VERY SPECIAL someone and you want something even more exotic (and expensive), then tugtupite or piemontite come to mind.

Lavender lepidolite is a nice stone that I found easy to polish. Pink tones will vary with rough a little.

have some nice Thulite and Pastelite that you may want to use. Leave me know what size cab you are looking for and will let you know if we can help.

Some good quality rose quartz is a darker pink. Won't break the bank either.

Whew. Busy week up here in Deadhorse. I appreciate all the suggestions, and I think sugilite is exactly what I was looking for. If anyone has a line on some blue Pietersite though, that would be awesome.

Awesome choices but you have a lot of narrowing down to do. lol As it turned out I checked what I have left of the pink and I could not have done you much good. I am working on a small slab of blue pietersite for someone and it is a challenge. Good luck with whatever you choose I am sure they will like whatever you make. Jim
