I posted this quite a while back, in hopes that someone would help ID it. Well, today while researching a totally different fossil, guess what I stumbled across ? This is the front fang of the Allodesmus Kernensis. A 15,000,000 year old ancestor to our modern sea lions. This was collected at Shark Tooth Hill, near Bakersfield, California around 1954. Bottom, showing socket behind fang where anothe tooth would have been.

Looks good. It's always very exiting when you finally find out what things are.

Yep, I collected this one about 58 years ago. Took that long to find out what it was. I was doing a search for fossil whale ear bones, and a near identical front fang pic popped up. Mine is actually more complete than the one I found googling. The one I found on the search was missing the tip of the fang.
