I think it came from the Panoche Hills of CA. Seems pretty soft and there is some mica at one end. Any ideas ?? Attachments:

You don't say how soft but there are both a lot of serpentines and a lot of soapstone varieties in California's coast range that could find there way into the Panoche Hills. If it's real soft it might be soapstone of some sort, if mohs around 4 or so, serpentine. Lots of glaucophanes too but they would be hard enough to be in the jade range. Harder than a standard nail, mohs 6 or harder.....Mel

Well a penny was able to scratch it, so maybe a 4 or so. I'll look up some serpentine details. Thanks
