Cut some of the slabs I got from Clint (stoneviews) and a few others I had from before. All cut with a cheap tile saw and a dremmel to do the "cleavage". I am definitely getting faster. All took about an hour and a half. I've learned to stand behind the saw so I don't get drenched. I still have no idea what the slabs are. If anyone can tell me it would be greatly appreciated. I broke down and bought a lot o vibe from the rockshed a few days ago. Can't wait till it comes. Thanks for looking Bill

your reddish with white heart in the center looks like it could have come straight off the rock I took this slice from. I found it up here in South central BC on top of a mountain where the glaciers left it I call it a jasper It looks pretty washed out in the picture but darken it dwn a ways for the way it really looks Attachments:

Those came out really great, Bill !
Nothing wrong with a cheap tile saw cause the surgeon in you utilizes things to the best of their resources. Your holding that heart up on the saw at certain slant to rough out that cleavage ?
Nice job & stock.
And a new Lot-O-- Whoa ! You'll be having some fine shined hearts!!! quickly mostly

My son cut a pretty heart with the tile saw yesterday. It made me sad that I didn't know how to cab it. He gave it to my granddaughter. You did a great job cutting these. Your hearts will be be awesome tumbled!

Saw a guy flat lap a heart once. He did all but the cleavage on the lap then used wet sandpaper to finish the split. Took him awhile but it came out nice.

Thanks for the comments. Bad storm in ohio yesterday - took out power to most of our town and they are saying it may be a few days to get it on . Cell towers are out too. Luckily the hospital has full power. My tumblers are silent at home. Ed- I don't hold them at any angle to get the clevage. Cut right across the top and use the dremmel with a diamond disc to shape the clevage. I bought some cheap discs on amazon that were like $4 for 6 or 8. They last for about 3 or 4 hearts or so (and I'm not kind to them). They really do the trick. For all of you with power, I'm jealous

Hi Bill Sorry about the storm and power being out, That can be serious, and hopefully only a major inconvenience, that they rectify quickly
Your carving skills are right on. I was thinking that if you held the heart up on an angle to the saw blade you could hog out some of the excess materiel in the cleave. That may make the dremelling faster? But you got a tight cleave, so maybe not mess with success.
Those will shine really fine

Thats a great batch of hearts
Don't knock tile saws, they are great for preforming and other grinding tasks. I started with a 4" and its still going strong.
The only saw I would condem would be the inland, its is a joke for lapidary. Works great for glass but not hard stone.
