What cool rock you have there - the color scheme, or the way it goes together, remind me of some fluorite a neighbor found up in the mountains here in CO (except it was green and purple instead of red). The rock we had was seriously an undercutting pain - did you have any undercutting issues? They sure came out smooth - nice job on that polish!

Frank, I can see that undercutting can be an issue with these stones. I really didn't have much of an issue because I worked the shapes to alleviate it. As you can see in this pic, there are rubies on three corners and a side. I worked the rubies more to shape them on those corners and tried not to overwork the fuschite around them. Just kinda went by feel. Another thing that was cool was that when I was shaping these on my worn coarse lap, there would be little sparks and the rubies would light up. It was pretty neat.

Heh heh, reminded me of this crazy incident I had at a rock shop several months ago. They had these really hard near completely agatized thunder eggs. I bought a few - they came with free cutting. They were maybe four inches across. Lady goes into the back room and I hear this incredible screaming/roaring sound. She returns in like five minutes with all three cut. I said, "how did you cut those so fast!?" She told me she hand fed them to the 24" saw in back! I went and took a look at it - one of those really scary looking blades with the long notches in it...! I said, "geez, you could have lost a hand - those aren't really so good for hand feeding!". She said, "I know, but I like it because I can see the sparks through the rock - makes them light up and it's so pretty!"
Ha ha...
