I went out looking for a small drill press today. I was shut out. Anyone have any ideas on a small drill press.I want to be able to move it around in and out of the garage to the patio (the other side of the house) with out my back going out.
We just had the patio built and it's such a great place to sit in the afternoon. I figure I'd be able to work on a few things back there too.

I have the Harbor Freight drill press..it's solid. It works fine for the price especially if you get it on sale. I also have the Dremel drill press. For me, it is not of much use. I have trouble drilling anything hard because of the play in the bit and it's a hassle to set-up.

I'll check Harbor Freight. I may have to try my old press in the garage. It's been so warm, I'd like to work outside.

When drilling with a Dremel you should place the bit as deep into the tool as possible to still allow for penetration depth only. This keeps the bit from walking and wobbling.

I have a Dremel "drill press" and I've tried using it to drill agate and jasper. As pointed out, the drill bit will walk and wobble if you aren't careful with it, but even if you're careful, the press itself flexes. It's just not stiff enough for hard rock. It wasn't made for that.
