Sweet batch. I really like the three piece piece. Too bad the two smaller ones are not the same size because it would be a killer ear ring and pendant set. Jim

I think you've that shine factor down pretty good Paul. You've got some pretty nice pieces there. I like the way you put that piece from Geoff back together.

Thanks guys.
Jim- that last photo - the white quartz is probably too large for a pendant (2" x 1" x 3/4") but that's a great idea none-the-less. I didn't even think of it that way.
Gary - thanks for the PM, earlier. Geoff sent some fun materials down. Funny to think that the most nondescript rock (from the outside) is really interesting and pretty when cut!

Paul, on your LCC rocks, the middle and right rocks are classic "dried cranberry cake" agate. That's the official name. ;-)

Thanks for checking out the thread, Randy! Susan - so, that's the name, eh? I'm wondering if the white material is opal, maybe? The reddish material is agate ... I think...

Thanks, guys. My batches only come out about three or four times a year. Snuffy seems to have them lining up weekly LOL! (joking).

Sweet stones, Paul! That "dried cranberry cake" looks a lot like the Kramer Junction "opal-agate" we love so much. Great shine!
Will the next load be Davis Creek obsidian? ;D ;D ;D
Seeya!

Thanks for checking out the thread, folks.
Now that this batch is completed, all three barrels are filled with the Davis Creek obsidian. One barrel has already been running for four weeks, while the other two have been running for just over a week now. I'm having trouble being patient as the initial rough results are promising. Will post progress photos along the way. I will state, though that there is a lot of pressure to "get it right" as a lot of folks here do obsidian really, really well (search for TNTMom's threads and others on the same).
Thanks Paul

I really like that quartz in the last picture, are you doing your obsidian all in a rotary or just rough grind in rotary?
