Barbara and I gave the boys some options last week on what to do and they opted for a day at the beach - it's been too hot to go rock hounding or geocaching - so theirs was the best recommendation. After packing a lunch and snacks we spent the day at Crystal Cove State Park. Thanks for checking out the thread. We had the beach mostly to ourselves for the majority of the day: A couple of tide pool shots of some anemones: This guy got sort of "sand logged" when the tide was going out: Can't recall what Andrew and I found. Must be getting old: Thanks for checking out the "non-rock" thread! Paul

Nice! With the temperatures and humidity soaring, I'm almost tempted to fight the crowds and go to the beach! Jean Thanks for sharing, I don't mind these types of "non-rock threads!"

Wyoming needs to get one of those beaches. Are they expensive?
I miss the water also. Can't have everything at the same time but I did hear about a great place in central America. I wonder if they have rocks there?
Thanks for the ride. Jim

I sure love that place. There was talk about tearing down the old beach houses at Crystal Cove. Did that ever happen?
Great pics Paul, thanks for showing!

Hey BAZ - I seem to recall hearing about that but I don't know if that was done or not. That's on the south end of park and we tend to hang out on the northern end, away from the beach rentals. Helen - yeah, the tide pools there are great. Always something to see. Thanks for checking out the post, folks. It's been so hot ... the water was around 60-65 degrees and felt WONDERFUL. Thanks Paul

Paul, It is way nicer to hang at the beach in the kind of weather we are having. Baz, Sorry about round 3. Still trying to catch our breath after the SC run. Hope all works out for the Coyotes as far as getting the team settled. I hope Doan stays. I hate when guys leave teams for the $.

Never thought of a metal detector although I do pickup lots of beach glass there at low tide. It seems to all wash up on the very northern end of the cove. If you time it right, you can get a baggie full in an afternoon.
