Yeah, looks like a great price. But it's about 2 1/2 hours from me. Jean

I purchased one (mine is stock) from a guy off of www.rockhounds.com/rockshop/classifieds/classifieds.shtml and drove a little over 3 hrs to get it. I will admint that it was close to one of my favorite hounding places in Oregon. For my 24" slab saw it was another drive almost 3hrs. So I say go for it...before the price of gas prohibits the drive. Mike

Wonder how much it would cost to freight it to NJ. We never get these available out here in the garden state Stu

I bought one last month for $275, and the shipping form California to Kansas was $89 by UPS ground. The guy put it in a big strong box. Maybe if it is on a pallet it would cost more? Donno. The motor does not look right. I would worry it was underpowered. Bidding has started. If the seller was wiling to box instead of palatalize, or if pallet/box made no difference, I think it could be worth a bid over $200. - even with the shipping. jean - I would go get it if you need one. 2.5hrs is nothing!

Shipping it on a pallet will cost about $200-300 depending on if it can be loaded by a forklift or pallet jack at the starting and drop off points or if the truck driver needs to provide those, also costs more if it is to a home address instead of a business address.
Shipping it in a box should be $60-100, depending on distance, company, type of box, insurance, etc.
The motor that is on it looks like a fan motor, will not have capacitor start and may overheat if you are cutting a larger than normal rock. I have had some good fan motors and some bad ones so that is a gamble also.

So, if the seller would put the saw in a large box. perhaps with a piece of plywood set in the bottom, use padding to immobilize and possibly fiber tape and/or plastic strap around the box in both directions, he could reduce shipping 50% to 66%.
Not sure it sounds like he wants to do this, but it can't be much more trouble than strapping it on a pallet.

Ideally to ship by ups it would be best to remove the motor and put it inside the saw. However if they say they can't ship it probably means they can't ship. Maybe someone who wants it shipped can find another RTHer in CA to help with that. Those saws show up around here fairly often. About $400.00 is the most they get for them but they might be worth more in other areas.

I hope the bidding don't go over the original $250 buy it now price. Fish - are you close enough to go pick it up. Would be an ok deal if there is no shipping involved.
