This is what I did with a small piece of Mt. St. Helen's Blue Jay agate, since it was too small to slab. Also, this is how to make a cab if you don't have a rock saw. This one fell offf the dop stick, so I just finished it by holding it in my hands - and I still have my fingernails!: The starting piece: Initial grinding: Need to remove some pesky matrix you can see here on the edge: A little more grinding - matrix gone - still needs shaping: Getting there with the shaping/sanding: Final cab on light and dark backgrounds (the dark background made it look more blue than it actually is): I hope you enjoyed the photos.

Lovely! New to me, and I admire the patience to shape without a saw!

..... Never heard of Mt. St. Helen's Blue Jay.... going on a google adventure now Krystee, Thanks for the comment.. I don't think you will find Mt. St. Helen's Blue Jay on google. My rock hunting partner found the site and decided on the name just last month. This agate pretty scarce but hopefully, we can go back and find enough to share with some of you.
