I wonder if it is wood replacement or some other nodule. I don't see the internal structure of thunderegg - but I don't see strong signs of wood either.
Except for the size, it looks like a slice of boulder opal potch.
Given the size, I suggest sealing the holes and geting the face polished.

From what I understand two of the eggs that slices like this came off of filled a wheel barrel.

it could be an egg. the outer part could be rhyolite, and the red center is surely jasper. The white looks like opalite, and sometimes opalite does occur in t-eggs.
but the center cavities are generally deformed - often in a classic star pattern. I think it is more common for external lines with agate center and less common with jasper,
I have a large double nodule that has agate and opalite in the center with no lines protruding to the outside.
I just wondered if you knew for sure if it was an egg or not.
It could be a jasper thunderegg, but there is generally more of a clear delineation between the rhyolite shell and the jasper center.
I still wonder if someone knows of some other nodule that fits this description

The colors look like some dino poop I have, but the outer rind in the second pic throw me off. Possibly a root ball of some sort ?

Might be a - really exceptional - slab from an "Opal Butte Orbicular" nodule. Rick

Well I tried to find some information but the internet was sadly lacking. I did find reference to Opal Butte Turkey Tail jasper which does seem to fit the bill from the very few & incomplete pictures I did find. Thank you very much for your input, Rick!
