In addition to a scratch test, a streak test helps identify minerals. If it leaves a red streak on rough porcelain (like the back of a porcelain tile), it is likely hematite.

The streak test proved to have an exact color as the rock. It was almost like a graphite in color and how it powdered across the plate.
I'm thinking that possible it is graphite.

Marcasite is an iron sulfide, it streaks dark grey to black and is found in the Racine area. It has a hardness of 6.5, but it crumbles easily. Turns to powder eventually. Graphite should not feel heavy.

The weight was my only reservation on the graphite thought. I'll look into your suggestion. Thank you!

How about Galena ? Galena is an ore of lead which was heavily mined in Wisconsin. Hardness - 2-1/2 S.G.- 7.4 to 7.6 (heavy) Streak - lead gray. Besides the normal cubic habit, galena is also found in masses. Try to flake a piece off. If the edges of the flake are at 90 Deg., it's a fair bet that's what you found.

All signs point to Galena. Thank you too all who helped and to who solved.

Allen, now you can knock a small chip off of it and build your very own crystal radio.
