Any one care to venture a guess just off of looks alone? I can do some hardness ans streak testing if needed, but I'm thinking this one will be easy for this group. Many thanks!

Looks like an agate nodule with all of the matrix knocked off by river tumbling. A slice or 2 across the eye should produce some nice banding from what I can see.

Thanks much. I never really know which direction to cut. Most things are experimental for me right now. I'll post pictures of the cut tonight.
And to further your expert eye, this rock was picked up along the dry bank of the Pike River. So, river tumbled for sure.

I was going to guess an amygdule (probably not spelled correctly). You can find them in the Wiley Well area in CA. Some attached to the lava outcrop and some popping loose and on the ground. The ones from there are white with banding and sometimes fortification patterns. Basically a nodule that forms in pockets so no outer matrix like geodes or nodules
