Hate to advertise here but while at the Denver show with Barranca Diamond I complained about the new $189 price of their MK145 trim saw (formerly $130). They are giving me the $130 list price until end of this year so I put them back on my website for $110. It is my favorite trim saw for trimming slabs. Half horse direct drive motor, 5500 rpm is noisy but extremely powerful. Includes a nice 4.5" MK tile blade and a BD303C 4" X .020" X 5/8" professional lapidary blade. Thought I would pass the word here. I think the two blades list for $70-$75 so the one year warranty tile saw is really a deal.

Very tempting. The noise does bother me a lot, but I guess I could wear earplugs.

I might have to get another one. Mine has this horrendous squeal when I turn it off & the blade slows down. I guess you could say it comes to a screeching halt!

Donnie is your belt or blade slipping? If not, probably the bearings are shot.

It is direct drive so no belt. If less than a year old it would be a warranty if the motor bearings. My saw was old and beat up when I got it and never and issue until I cut a bunch of silver ore and melted the plastic flange washer. After that I had to remove a section of table top to hold the inner flange/adapter with pliers to remove the blade. I finally stripped out the square surfaces on the motor that engage the inner flange washer. Before I stripped it out a did a lot of abusive trimming slabs demonstrating at shows, tile jobs, and general trimming. I had no question what to replace it with when I killed it. A brand new MK145 is waiting at home for me.

As long as you can stand the noise run it till it drops but you will be replacing it soon, as fixing the motor costs much more than the saw. Lee
