Looking to order my lortone 12 rotary and the thumblers uv18. I see plenty of places to order from, just trying to see if anyone has any good input. Im going to order the rotary first along with the grits I need to get started. Then in a few weeks I'll get the vibe along with the polishes I will need.

I don't even remember where I got my tumblers 10 years ago, but my recommendation (because they are very expensive) is to buy from a place with good reputation and ease of returns if needed. I love the prices and customer services of Amazon but I don't think they sell larger tumblers. There are a couple of sections at this forum under the "members" and the "general" areas, named "The Buy Sell & Swap Shop for Members" & "the Vendors the Bad & the Ugly", you could try checking them. Perhaps manofglass (Walt) could jump in and help, he has some good link sources to buy rocks & supplies. Dora

My 2 cents, I'd keep an eye on Craigslist, if ya go new I'd go with the rockshed. Later Clyde

just do rockshed. later, if you want more, and you are more familiar with the machines, look at the used market.

I recently bought mine from therockshed and am just as pleased with the machine as I am with the prompt and friendly service. Also Manofglass(walt) has helped me out quite a bit. Good person to have in your corner. Just sayin.

I've been a stead therockshed.com customer since I first joined here and have never had a problem, I get my rocks from multiple places including what I can get on my own, but in a pinch they always have good material too... right now I am putting the polish to some Labradorite rough I got from the shed.

Afternoon Algotodd,
I love my Lortone 12's and have been grinding 60/90 since I got started on the board. Rockshed is a great place to order as many members here will suggest. Members also say to stick to the same time brand/source for your grit and rockshed is a great site for that too.
I live very close to Lortone manufacturers and it's open to public to purchase their products and parts. I was just there replacing all my gaskets as my equipment was purchased used.
They were very helpful and I would like to extend that to you if interested as well as other members on RTH.
If it is cheaper for you, I would be happy to pick up a tumbler/parts and ship it using the lowest shipping method. Some sites may offer free shipping but may charge more then buying from Lortone directly.
Cheers, Matt
