Oh, BTW, any of those cabs could be from our Davis Creek slabs. Frank got a good supply, and he's a great, generous friend.
That ghost purple-gold velvet is soooooo dreamy ....
Gotta have more!

Those are super cabs and the polish is perfect! To get a better catseye effect in your photos use a clear incandescent bulb for the lamp. The single point light source from the filament will really show the catseye effect. Also move back from the cab so your shirt won't show up as a reflection on the cab. You can get the close up of the photo by using the crop feature in the photo program on your computer. It takes the place of having a macro lens that often shows either the reflection of the lens or your clothing or both in the photo. Bob

Great obsidian. Fiber optic glass is one of my favorite things to cab and this reminds me of it. Amber loved it so much she already ordered some of the lemon catseye.

Those are gorgeous cabs! Fantastic material, shaping, and polish!
I've never been that interested in obsidian, but this is enough to make me reconsider.

Thanks again everyone!
For a FULL tutorial on the catseye cut check out Bob's (Bobby1) complete step by step tutorial with pictures in the June 2010 Lapidary Journal.
He is one of my many mentors and probably one of my biggest inspirations on playing with OB when I joined RTH in 2009. It's generous helpful people like this that allow the rest of us to appreciate, learn and grow in our own hobbies or business!
Bobby, Thanks for always pushing me to go farther than my comfort zone and always helping me when I need it!!!!!

The obsidian dig at Lassen creek, which the forest Service has labeled Rainbow is where the Electric Blue comes from, and often one piece will be half blue, and half purple. I think Kris's pit at Davis Creek is at the Rainbow site, or 'mine' as the FS calls it. Not unusual for a piece of rainbow to only have one colour, and not the whole spectrum. Woody
