I took out my obsidian today after the 110-220 grit stage. 7 days. I was surprised at how much mass they had lost. About 10-15%. The frosting at the edges seems to have gone away for now. I have quite a few tile spacers in the batch to coddle the obsidian. I've reloaded with 500 grit which is my pre-polish step. 7 more days. Pictures taken dry: I may have to consolidate in a single 3# barrel if I lose as much mass again as I did this step. Thanks for looking.

Very nice and smooth, if they continue like that they will be gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing the advancement of the other stages.

Are the tile spacers as good as ceramic??
Are they a replacement for the ceramic?? or better cushioning??
Would they work in a vibe or just for roller tumbling???
I have some snowflake to tumble too ... as soon as a tumbler opens up.. although I have the vibe open just not sure how to vibe rocks other than polish.... gotta re-read the tutorial!!

I used tile spacers because I hope to limit impact energy in the barrel. I have not used ceramic spacers before. The beautiful obsidian tumbles by TNTMom used ceramic media but she finished in a vibe.

That's cool, I'm asking because I just came into 6+pounds of Apache tears and wanted to know if pellets would work, ceramic or if the spacers would do the trick.. I can get the spacers easier than anything else as I have Lowes & Home Depot right down the road from me. Also I thin you should keep some of them with the frosting on them... I think it would make a nice contrast to mix in with the polished ones at the end.... (just my )
