anybody know anything about these woods the brown crusty one the green crusty one why so crusty...

Those are some nice pieces Jason! I would venture a guess of pacific north west.. but honestly I don't know I DO know they're cool as hell tho ;D

My guess would be that these were buried after they fell and were later dug up or exposed in another way. Insects, mold and rot would account for the texture of the pieces! If you decide to slab them and are willing to parts with a slab of each let me know!!! Very nice looking pieces!!

I think the top one is cypress, probably from Washington. Looks like a whole, intact knee no less - WAY cool! The green *might* be from Hampton Butte in Oregon. Not sure of the species - maybe oak. C-ya, Rick

thanks everyone for helping me out.. i just cant bring myself to cutting some of these woods especially if the colors are not that eye catching like the (cypress) cant make it purtier than it is. crust and all the green, its had a rougher life ....mabe cut a lil off maybe not

Jason,am with rest on wood from the northwest. Am willing to bet they did not come from MO.
