Well. Looks as though I misunderestimated the American people. Looks like the Democrats have earned the right to finish the transformation. Too bad the other half of us are captive witnesses. Congrats.

America says NO to the party of "no". How predictable. So much for Romney's four point plan. You know, I do regret one thing, though...I was dying to see what the hidden budget cuts were that Romney so carefully avoided revealing, to offset the trillions he was planning to add to the national debt. You can bet they would have been carefully selected to gut shoot the middle and lower classes. Well, one thing to look forward to.... now I don't have to worry about the extra $2000+ in taxes I would have to pay/donate to the millionaires and billionaires in this country to pay for their permanent tax cuts.

Well. Looks as though I misunderestimated the American people. Looks like the Democrats have earned the right to finish the transformation. Too bad the other half of us are captive witnesses. Congrats. It took 8 years for Bush to TRASH the budget surplus and prosperity we enjoyed under Clinton, we owed Obama 8 years to fix it. As much as you think this is a disaster for you, it's not. You won too, you just don't know it yet. THIS time, maybe without the pressure of an election, Obama can SHOVE that Jobs bill down the Congress's throat and FORCE them to swallow and pass it. THEN we can have an economic RECOVERY. Mittwitt had the same 5 point plan Bush did. That's even what Bush CALLED it. 8 years of his 5 point plan landed us on our backs after we fell to our knees. 12 years of tax cuts, we made corporations the richest entities that ever existed in human history and we didnt' even get a lousy t-shirt, or minimum wage jobs to go with it. I WILL make you a wager if you are interested and so darn sure Obama will wreck the economy more. I wager you in 4 years Bill that YOU will be better off than you are today. What shall we bet?

And while you're thinking about the difference, check the pre-market trading... stocks started shooting up right about 10pm.... like clockwork it was so predictable:). The market LUVS Obama. money.cnn.com/data/premarket/

I usually do not get involved in politics but I would like to share this. One thing that really bothered me is that there was this stipulation in the stimulus package that made it so only union contractors could bid on school construction jobs. I know this because I was a commercial carpenter for a non-union company. I loved the school jobs because we were paid prevailing wage. Once the Obama stimulus deal went through we didn't get anymore school jobs because our company was not allowed to bid. Before that we built over half of the schools and modernization construction around Bakersfield and the surrounding areas....needless to say I was laid off from a job I had had for 8 years of non-stop work....these past two years I have really had to hustle and find work were I could and sell rock. I guess that is why that SEIU union guy spent so much time at the White House while all that stimulus stuff was going on.

I guess that is why that SEIU union guy spent so much time at the White House while all that stimulus stuff was going on. Hrm... that's terrible Chris. I am not sure how the stimulus worked for school jobs, nor did I even know about stimulus for school jobs. Did a quick google and found this: money.cnn.com/2009/01/14/news/economy/school_stimulus/index.htmI have NO IDEA how union jobs work, because Florida is a non-union state. Nor do I know how stimulus money from the Fed works, because our Gov Rick Scott sent every penny allocated to Florida for the high speed rail back to the Fed, despite our 11% unemployment, nearly all of which came from the construction industry. (and I voted for him...but I don't make the same mistake 2x). I'm not sure about schools. Dumb question... why can't your company sign up with a Union? I don't know how that works, but if you were getting those contracts before, and a Union company is required... wouldn't it be easier to just become a Unionized company? Or, as an experienced Contractor, having worked on the schools, why can't you apply for the Union and apply with the company NOW contracted to build the schools, since you've been laid off? You have 8 years experience doing the work that they newly started to do. If the company just got that work and never had it before, you sure they aren't hiring? How do you join the Union? My husband's cousin was renovating schools and doing school work, and his company was not Union (no construction in Florida is Union), and they are still doing that. I don't have any idea if that's from Federal money, but given our crashed real estate prices, I don't think our counties could afford ANY renovations, so I'd think it must be. I wonder about that stimulus requirement... if Florida isnt' required to provide Union contracts, there are no construction Unions, why would they require it in California? You SURE that isn't a state requirement? You know what I would do? I'd write a personal letter to Obama and tell him that you had that work for 8 years, and with his Union requirement, they won't hire you, AND won't let you join the Union. Ask HIM to help you join the Union so you can feed your kids! I've read that he sometimes reads and responds to personal letters, you have nothing to lose. If it's true that Unions are REQUIRED, it may make him rethink how screwed up stealing the work from a company doing it to give a company who wasn't doing it. Make sure you mention your children and how hard it's been to feed them since they took your work away. Before you do this tho... make very sure that that was part of the stimulus itself, and that your company didn't just lose the bidding because they weren't competitive, or graft from the replacement company to grease the palm of the schools, or state/local requirement. So many times people blame things on the Federal Gov't, when it had absolutely nothing to do with them. But if you find out that it DOES, write the letter both to him and to your state congressman and Senator. That's what you elected them for right, to HELP constituents? You are a constituent, and the worst they can do is ignore you and do nothing. Well if you don't tell them, they're doing nothing anyway, so what do you lose, an hour of your time writing it? I have never understood why people do not complain to the source when they hit personal difficulty caused by the source. You have been treated unfairly, I'd find out how that happened, and when I found the cause, I'd let them know and ask them to fix it.

As for the fraud... it was on the Republican side. With the internet Don, people can READ the bills that are passed, READ who rejected the bills, there's no more need for filters like there was 20 years ago before the internet. The truth is out there, and it's now available to EVERYONE. The Civil War was PREVENTED Don. I told you, you need to stop reading the lies when you can read the SOURCE. Helen, people without the selective reading gene also have the ability to read how many bills Harry Reed has refused to bring to a vote. Like you said, "The truth is out there". Thank god the Senate was there to stop them, or the Ryan Bill would already be law, and YOU'd be paying $7,000 of your income in various taxes and increased cost. Some bills needed to be stopped, and in the case of the House Republicans, that meant every single bill they proposed, the idiots. Go read them, start to finish, and see what the Democrats SAVED you from. The rich are NOT going to get richer on the backs of the poor and middle class anymore. I have NO problem with rich people, but I have no desire to see those not rich become slaves.

You have been treated unfairly, I'd find out how that happened, and when I found the cause, I'd let them know and ask them to fix it. The reason your husband's cousin was still working is because as you said your Governor did not accept any stimulus money...would have put a lot a people out of work and could have helped imbed union power that is obviously unwanted in your State. I have been in construction for over 25 years. I started out as a union carpenter. All the union ever done for me is take my dues. We no longer need unions in this country. Anymore they are just a political/social tool. The market in my area was considered too small for the unions at one time. They built most of the schools in the larger markets. Once the stimulus package went into effect and the company I worked for could no longer bid, the union moved in. Yes we could have become a union shop but by doing that we would have actually brought home less of our earnings after the union took their cut. Make no mistake, I could have joined the union. No one did not allow me to join. It would have cost right around $2000 to join plus monthly dues and deductions for various things including the unions political activities. I chose not to join...been there done that....and it cost me and when I thought I could depend on the unions promises they basically closed the door.....no need for me to beg for help from the government...I am an American, I just figured out another way to keep my house and feed my kids.....I just switched gears and did something else.....had no time to write letters and hope some government official would get me out of the mess they created...I just got myself out of it..thank you for your suggestions...good night

Words cannot express how shocked and saddened I am. Congratulations Liberals, you just gave our children and grandchildren a death blow. Obama will spend them into oblivion. I'm having a hard time coping with the fact of what the American people have become. Freedom has just gone down the drain. You will get exactly what you deserve. Unfortunately, so will the rest of us.
Those of you who have not stocked up on fishing and hunting supplies, food, gas, silver and gold, now is an excellent time to do so.
Goodbye America.......It's been an honor knowing you.

I wrote the following in response to others on this forum and on an entirely different topic for a different forum:
It's time to move on. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I guess no one has started anything on this topic yet because you are either in mourning, on the way to Canada or still asleep.
Yep, he won, and rather convincingly. Hurricane Sandy helped him enormously as did the last 10 days or so of him reaching for Republicans. He looked and acted presidential. He related to the common folk much more than did Romney. I said early on that, despite of political differences that he was the type of PERSON that I could have a beer with, and that translated to the rest of the country as well.
The GOP is rapidly becoming a dying party. They HAVE to make a bold effort to draw in the Hispanic vote and do it soon, if it isn't already too late. The GOP is currently old people, churchgoers. Tea Party (many of the same type as just mentioned) and the like and very little more. They must make a serious effort to change and they need to do it now. They don't have anyone to lead the party so someone needs to step up. It should be Rubio as that would kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.
Why do I have this attitude of acquiescense? Because most of us who are retired military fall in line and say yessir, yessir two bags full. That's what we were taught to do. We may not like it but that's the way it is. We'll bitch a little and then keep on marching.
The good thing is that the election is over and we don't have to put up with it for another two years. I hope by the time the GOP is viable.

Christopher, I think you need to do a little research. There are totally non union states and somebody has to be building and repairing the schools in those states. Each state is union or a right-to-work state. Wyoming is a right-to-work state and there are no unions around here fixing the schools but they have been fixing and building. If you go up the road a ways into Montana it is mostly union. When I joined two different unions (carpenters/full member and pipe fitters (permit hand) my wages went way up even though I paid the up front money and a stipend every month which amounted to about 2% of net so it did not amount to squat since I was making a thousand dollars a month more as a union member. I moved away from Montana for 22 years and went back to be closer to family. In the time I was there I worked two non union jobs as a welder and made a very good wage but the job that I took when I first went back was also non union and it did not pay squat.
Don't get me wrong, I am not a union lover because they have gotten way out of hand and need to be reined in. Especially the national organizations should be busted up and it all should go state by state. Believe me, there are many companies that would cut wages and give excuses why they can not afford insurance any more if the unions were pulled out.
Curt, hahahaha you think that we just instated a dooms day scenario. Do you have any idea what this country would be like if we had not been spending a billion dollars a day for ten years in Iraq? I just can not see how some of you hard heads can not see that. If that money would have been spent on our borders we would be locked up tight as a drum and our schools would be top notch instead of not being able to educate the kids good enough to fill the 3.5 million available jobs. You and I made a bet at the start of this, do you remember what you put up. I remember what I did not loose.
Did ya'll see where Bush is not intelligent enough to vote and voted for Obama!!!!!!!!!!! That is hilarious. I can not believe that he went senile in the last four years so the smarts were the same before.

I won't, and never will congratulate the Dems on their win. I don't approve of business as usual in Washington, but that's exactly what we're going to get. More big spending. More government takeover of our civil rights. More under the table dealings with big union. More deals cut with the enemies of the U.S. More freebies for illegals and those too damned lazy to work for a living.
Expect in the next few months to see the U.S. fall into a double dip recession, if not a full blown depression.
I for one, without advertising the fact to my Obama loving neighbors, will begin quietly stockpiling canned goods and dried foods. I'm already a seed saver, so I'll be able to grow my fresh vegetables. Also Warm clothing, cans of non ethanol gas, and lots of firewood. And a good supply of ammo for my guns. I'll survive what's coming in the very near future. Many of my neighbors won't.

Did ya'll see where something like 2/3 of the people in Ohio are employed in some way by the auto industry? ??!!!!!! Can you imagine the tail spin that state would have gone through without the bail out that has turned them around? ?? Jeez Lowese 2/3 of Ohio put on food stamps and unemployment and loose their houses and the cost to the government. Ohio would have gone through a doomsday that Curt is worried about. Too many mules. So, lets all get behind the president like they used to do it and make this country great again. We have been in a much bigger hole in the past. YEA RIGHT, I CAN REALLY SEE THAT HAPPENING. Jim

LOL, Ya Think? :serious: News Flash: Some May Suffer From Post-Election Depression MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Once the election results are in, you might find yourself very happy or very disappointed, depending on the outcome. It may be difficult to mask how you are feeling when you are around your co-workers or people with whom you’d rather not talk politics. Dr. Linda Reiss, a psychologist in Minneapolis, said there will likely be some people who will experience a bit of post-election depression. In some cases, it extends beyond disappointment over the election results. Anger over a candidate or an issue winning or losing can subconsciously trigger other emotions that have been buried, some deep disappointment that occurred when we were much younger or even when we were children. The day after the election can remind us of how we felt at other times in our lives when we felt those close to us where not making rational decisions. So come Wednesday, or whenever we know the official outcome of all the races, some people will be struggling emotionally. Experts recommend that you be aware of that and be respectful. minnesota.cbslocal.com/2012/11/06/some-may-suffer-from-post-election-depression/Them mean demmycrats done hurted my feelers. ;D
