They don't look to be holly blue. Holley (holly) blue won't have those colors inside, nor is it - if I recall properly - a nodular agate like you're showing. That said, I like the colors your getting on the inside. I'll see if I can dig up a couple holley (holly) blue agate shots for you. Lowell (modified post to add photos)

Thanks Lowell, I thought that Holly was more a seam type Agate. Any idea what these are? They all are Blue on the outside and you can not see the patterns on most unless you cut them. Keith

You know, I've been looking and considering and I'd have guessed Laguna from the inside of the two outside specimens too but the exteriors in the bulk shot of the nodules in the basket look wrong to me. I'm stumped. That uniformly blue pock marked exterior could fit some Lagunas but dang most all of those have very similar exteriors which I'd find odd in a basket of Laguna agates.....Mel

yeah, a definate no for them too. The disdero are pretty intimate to the matrix and you'll rarely if ever find clean ones like this. On the whole the colours are "wrong" and if you had that much blue you'd be sure to have a lot of other colours. The nodules are too rounded like gas pocket nodules and clean; unfractured, also .

Man I was icing my knee this morning so did a lot of reading in my agate notebooks and in Brad Cross's Mexican agate books and I'm still stumped. I was thinking maybe Loma Pinta or Tomache out of Mexico but the exteriors are just not right. Those definitely look like surface float material too and not stuff dug from hard andesite. I'm now leaning more towards Africa as the origin but there the exteriors look OK but not so much the interiors. Oh well, there are blue skinned Lagunas. Maybe a bunch of them came from the same spot. Thanks for the challenge. it's a good one *L*.....mel

Mel I cant believe I've stumped you with these . I think I will just go with saying possible Lagunas. I know I was surprised with what was inside when I ground them down. Thanks everyone for the help. If any more ideas let me know. Keith
