Dora: That area of California is much more likely to have fine grained metamorphic quartzite than agate. Southern California agates tend to be pretty translucent and your example shows more of a fine grained texture that I'd associate with quartzite. It will still take a good polish and quartzite often shows really nice patterns and a good degree of translucency too....Mel

Thanks Mel! It has some nice colors and lines and feels quite heavy for its size. I’m very happy with it and will tumble it soon. ;D
