Well my son was bugging me to let him get some cabs out of a couple slabs he got at an estate sale so I told him only if he helped. I let him work on every stage and when he is done with each I usually tweak a little here and there but he does most of the material removal. Didn't realize he forgot his glasses till I saw the pictures later, my bad!. blue lace (5/16" thick) crazy lace thanks for looking, Chuck and Andrew

Nice job! The second photo of your son is wonderful; reminds me of a Vermeer painting. Perfect!

really cool to see the next generation getting involved in this... if they never follow in our footsteps, they will at the least have a hobby to keep them busy when there is nothing else to do, and then it'll be "cool rock, where'd you get it?" "In the driveway, the sun hit it just right and I thought I saw a little chatoyance in it so I brought it inside to check it out.. s'not bad I guess" <proud parent moment>
My daughter is slowly getting into it too, she wants to work the slab saw next. For now we are working on seeing stones on a different light... as lapidaries in training, instead of just walking over them.
I wish you much luck youngin' keep on keepin' on!!

If Andrew is old enough to make cabs like that (wow), it seems like he should be old enough to join this forum. We would certainly remind him to wear safety glasses!

Excellent cabs. It's good to see young people taking an interest in Lapidary. The pics of your son remind me of the cover on an old Moody Blues album.
