Here's a couple of pictures of some cool green rocks I'm currently tumbling. Still on the first stage, maybe next week I'll have enough material for stage 2. It's pretty fractured and I have to grind a lot off to get a good one. "raw" after 1 week: I'll post more to this thread when the next stages roll around Attachments:

That looks like you could fill more than one tumbler with that much stone.

I like epidosite, looks like you have it off to a good start!

I've got a Lortone tumbler with 2 6 pound barrels. This material is pretty fractured and takes awhile to get where it can go to the next stage, I've tossed a bunch after the first week as just too fractured. But once I start cabbing I might be able to use some of the stuff I tossed. It's a nice looking rock I'm stoked to see the end result.

Those are coming along nicely! It's fun seeing someone else's rocks progressing. It's almost like I have another tumbler.

They look great! I share your fondness for epidisote--I really like all of the different patterns and shades of green.

Ditto to what has been said so far. We have some nice tumbling-sized epidosite here in Northern Colorado and I've tumbled a lot. Yours looks nice and solid.

Thanks for the encouraging words! This is the first batch of rocks I've tumbled where I've gone out over a few weekends collecting material and run all the same material. I've been way picky about what to bring to the next stage and I hope they turn out well. I think they will based on what I've seen so far.

I don't have any help with your questions--when I've had fractures and vugs in epidisote, they simply "regenerated" after I got rid of the original ones. I do have a question, though. Do you know what the red is?

I do not know what the red is. It took me forever to identify the green as epidote, The more interesting bits have the red in them though. It looks like granite. Some of the specimens I've collected have a more grainy appearance like an arkosic sandstone with veins of the epidote going through it.

I'll take a stab in the dark and maybe guess the red to be feldspar? The ones with the red look a lot like unakite to me. unakite Chuck

Interesting! Maybe so. These rocks I think are from southern Wyoming or northern Colorado, I found them in north central CO on the plains.
