A friend of mine was an opal cutter. In his day he was rated in the top 3 Opal cutters in the U.S. He passed on to that great Opal seam in the sky a few years ago, and I sure do miss him. While going through a drawer today, I found a triplet done by him, and thought I'd post it. Rest in piece Jake Schmidt. One day we'll sit and drink coffee together again, and talk rocks.

That's cool! you can hold on to that forever. It's easy to see his talent in that cab!

Gorgeous and perfectly done. Such a nice remembrance from a dear friend! Talking about him, is kinda bringing him back to life.

That is stunning Don. It's such a good feeling rediscovering something that you had forgotten about and having all of those good memories come back to you.

Krystee, I wish my photographic skills were equal to the beauty and fire in this stone. No matter which angle I tried to shoot from, I could only capture a small portion of the fire.

That's a beautiful triplet. Is it Spencer? I know what you mean by looking at rocks and how they can bring up a lot of good memories - happens to me quite often.

It's really great that you have this to remember him by. Maybe you can keep it next to your coffee maker.

No, it has its place of honor now in my display cabinet. Once my wife digs out the rings Jake made for us, I'll display them along with the cab.
