My old crockpot finally shot craps. I bought a new one, used it once and it got the lid broke. I noticed it cooked way faster. At any rate as cheap as they are I went and bought another one of a different mfg. Put in a roast at 7am on low and it was already black and tencer by noon and boiling over.
I can't imagine leaving for work and coming home at 5pm with one of these things.
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this? I suppose I could spend more $ and get the digital one with a timer. I'm thinking people today don't have the patience for a crockpot.
Maybe im just imagining things I don't know.

Mine is a few years old, A smaller model and it seems to do fine. I've been looking at getting a new, bigger one. This is good information!

We have 2. The old one cooks slower on high than the newer one does on low.

Exactly, I knew I wasn't going crazy. Fine and dandy if you aren't planning leaving the house for the day. My other gripes for the day are having MasterChef pumping Walmart's produce and meat department. What? I have never gotten anything there that resembles the TV show. I'm afraid of getting ecoli just walking thru the product dept let alone buying anything. I also think they are purposely trying to get people used to eating inferior stuff. I won't buy produce or meat there. I have 6 dogs so I get stuff like that there. Poor dogs lol.

One other thought this could be in response to 1 or 2 lawsuits claiming bacteria growth in the crockpot from taking too long to cook. I haven't looked into that.

I got a crock pot for Christmas. I've never used one before. First time using it I put a roast and some veggies in at 5:30 am and set it on low, then went back to bed. Got up at 9 and the roast looked the same as when I put it in, in fact I took the lid off to feel if it was even warm. We had it for supper around 5 that evening, was cooked perfect. IDK what brands you used, but mine's a Crock Pot brand, basic 4 qt with low and high.
Gonna try wild turkey breast next time. Sorry for your bad luck, but thanks for the reminder lol.

Just bought a new 3 quart to cook rocks in. They're great for cleaning rocks in warm acid. Just set it at the setting to keep food warm.
We'd be lost without our older rectangular crock pot. Did a pork roast in it today.

The smaller ones make good pickle pots for silversmithing.
I slow cook beef pot roast in a crockpot all the time.

We don't shop much at Walmart either and definitely not any meat or produce, with the exception of purchasing ammo.

We bought a new crock pot not long ago, and it cooks way to fast on low also. We just put it up and haven't used it since. Ditto on Wally World. We only go when we have to, to buy things like paper towels, laundry soap and such. Would never buy meat or produce. On a price check Wally World's produce was higher in price than the local market. My wife has to avoid BPA that they use to line can goods with, so we've stated once a month traveling to the closet whole foods to buy can goods. We buy our meat from local farmers through a coop, and we grow our own produce.
