I have some Lake Superior, Bahia, and Bubblegum agates that are too large for my 3# tumblers. I have a 7 inch tile saw I got in late August 2012. I have cut some Moostone , crazy lace, chert and leaverites with the saw. I was looking for tips in regards to which direction to cut the agates to get the best out of them. Such as, if banded should it be cut parallel or perpendicular to the bands? What does it mean to "cut across the eye"? (if I have the terminology correct) as I remember readng somewhere. Any advice would be welcome. I'm looking to make smaller sized pieces to tumble and probably some preformed shapes to tumble as well.

Cut it the way YOU like it. (((((*)))))) If your agate looks like this on the cut, it is across the eye.
