Well for one you do not know how much you have, what I have bought of this same stone is sold by the gram. I think that you are going to have to work your rough to see how big of a piece of Opal that is, how deep it runs or if there are any dead spots in the flash. I just broke up a large rock of Spencer Opal and have a piece of flash that is about three inches wide by two inches tall, it is a great looking piece of Opal.
Good luck,
Tammy

mostly in the rough the color shows around the perimiter of the stones... the one shown has same color on the other side.. but prob need to cut the matrix and dead opal off? is that the thing to do?

The fore in Spencer is paper thin, but may have multiple seams, When working it, take it slow, and keep an eye on the fire lest it be gone...takes about one millisecond. Woody

So you're keeping the good stuff and selling the rest?
Probably be easiest if you post a pic of what you're actually selling and say what you want for it.

I am also wondering if jewelry can be made with some of the matrix left on so I am not working with such tiny stones? I have seen photos of people holding some in their hands and the things are micro which is about what I would have if I take off all the matrix. Thanks Jim

If you're trying to get your money back out, doesn't really matter what other people paid, right?

A quick look at completed listings on ebay shows prices all over the place. the quality of the fire means a lot, and also its exposure. potch only dollars/lb, thin seams cut across, dollars/oz. exposed seams showing a broad face of flash dollars/gram.
... so impossible to say, but you do not have the broad face flash.
Todd has a good point. You could have easily searched ebay and/or google. It becomes curious why you posted here, and why silent about what you paid. IMO, you were hoping to hook a sucker who would offer too much.
Looking at your posting history it is like 2 or 4 posts that share or give advice and dozens and dozens selling minerals. You seem to have confused RTH for 1) a free classified ad system, 2) a mineral board (versus lapidary), and now 3) as a place to do the work you were too lazy to do.
IMO, what you do here is gouache. The reason there are eyeballs here to read your ads is because RTH has been made and maintained as a rockhound destination by the many people doing the constant work of interesting and helpful rock discussion. The buy-sell section was intended for the real members to sell to each other, usually at a discount, often swapping instead of cash. When you come in with you faux-membership to get free ads, it is gauche.
