Ok, so here are some pictures I took on the rock hunt on Friday out by Brenda, AZ. We had a great time and got some really good rock. The whole gang (left to right) Tonyterner, Scott (free2rockhound), Richard (from Calaveras Gem & Mineral club), Jean (rockpickerforever), (kneeling) Bob (Mrrockpickerforever), Lucy (rockpickerdog), Sheri (rockhobbit) with Gypsy and Willow the rockhounding puppies, Bob (coldwatergold), Tom (from Calaveras Gem & Mineral Club), Kylene (MrsSheltie), and Denny (Sheltie). At Black Rock Cafe getting ready for the hunt. A couple of rock "hounds" meeting. Lucy and Gypsy with Jean supervising. Kylene (MrsSheltie) and Bob (Mrrockpickerforever) View of the ground Steve..I mean Scott (free2rockhound) Desert view Rockhounds on the hill Tony checking out the hillside The rockhound puppies taking a break on the quad. How come everyone is looking down? LOL Later in the afternoon the clouds started to look more threatening and it started to sprinkle so it was time for Sheri and I to head out. We got to the Suburban in time for the rain to start up so made it just in time. It was a great trip. We really caught a break with the weather. Thanks Mother Nature and thanks Sheri for getting us together for a great trip.

Great pics, Diane, and great job of getting all the names attached! As soon as we got there, and got out of the truck, I couldn't take my eyes off the ground, there was just so much shine and color! Diane had a hard time, getting us all to come over and gather for a picture.
Jim, you want pictures of rocks? I'll dump a couple of 5 gal buckets out on my patio, and take a few pics for you. The jasper we found was awesome stuff, very fine grained and hard. It's going to take a great polish! At the Pow Wow, there was an exceptional piece of face-polished agate from Brenda in one of the display cases. It was gorgeous, I hope I brought home one like it! I got a new saw blade from John (JS Gems) at Desert Gardens, just before the BBQ, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.
We really did have a terrific time, Diane, and after you and Sheri left, we were finding more of the petrified wood and palm chunks that you missed! Bob and Irving headed over the the cliff to the south, where there was some green stuff (chrysocolla?) in thin veins in the cliff. It started to rain pretty good, and we were thoroughly soaked before we were through. It was after 6pm (and dark!) by the time we made it back to the pavement. Jean

Thanks. Glad you found good stuff Jean. I hope you left a few pieces of that palm for us to find later. It was like trying to get kids to get together for a picture...lol.

These photos aren't of the rock hunt, but just some general pics taken around Quartzsite. I think these were mesquites, quite a tangle! Proudly displaying the RTH sticker Beef sent to me A close one! Just another fraction of an inch would've ruined my day... I love the saguaro cactus! Sunset on Sunday January 20. Taken about eight miles south of Quartzsite, west of AZ95 and looking to the east at the southern end of the Plomosa Mountains. Yes, those are all RVs, campers and trailers in the background, in the La Posa south LTVA (left) and Roadrunner areas (right) View to the west from Roadrunner BLM area, of the Sawtooth Mountains A little to the south of of that to Cunningham Mtn (with the radio tower on top) That's it for now! Umm, well mine are still in my truck, can I use the excuse that I got distracted by my puppy? I don't know what everyone else's excuse is...lol. I'll try to get them out of my truck before next year's hunt ;-)

Scott, the only reptiles I saw were some small lizards. Not much out, with all the rain. Jean
