My good friend momz gave me some of these ... I didn't know what to tell her about what they were..They seem to have 6 sides but are soft like calcite. All are flat with a tiny edge around them making six sides instead of four..I think. Attachments:

I'd say if it quacks like calcite it is calcite...LOL. Seriously I would think it would be calcite given the softness and I know calcite forms crystals.

I'd go with Selenite, it's a common form of gypsum.

Definitely Selenite Gypsum. Looks like the stuff you get from Lake Gillies in South Australia.......

Thanks much nice to know .. I thought it was way to soft for quarts and even though calcite has many many crystalline forms I haven't seen this type ...if it was one. Thanks again for the positive I.D...

Yes, that is a crystal form. It would be called bladed.
