Here's my first two cabs that I've taken all the way from finding the material in the field to slabbing, trimming and grinding to oval cabs. Initial observations: It's harder to do than I thought. The motion required to get a nice even grind is hard to master. What does one do with all the bits of trim material left over? I've got a bunch of tiny triangles and strips that I think will be too small to tumble. Here's an epidosite cab. funny how those scratches don't show up until the macro lens gets broken out: Here's an agate cab. This one polished up a lot better than the epidosite. It would be nice if not for the funky brown color in it I think. It was it was good to practice on some so-so material.

Here's a zoomed out pic of both.. As you can see they don't have a nice perfect oval shape... not a perfect thing. but a start. Thanks for the comments! I've always collected rocks but just recently took it to actually doing things with them.

Looking pretty darn good for your first ones, the small pieces I throw in the tumblers as grit carriers.

Great work for your first two!
As for the trimmings, I throw everything in the tumbler. If they come out tiny (or vanish into slurry, for that matter) its fine by me. They were there to improve the grind.

Nice first pair of cab. Keep at it, it becomes more addictive the more you cab.

Nice cabs!! I like the agate cab best, they'll wear out your machine but they sure do shine!
