do you know what this is? has a chert like feel.As you run your fingers across it, it is loud, if that makes sense thanks

The faint banding suggests either actinostroma sponge (I think -- Ted would know) or maybe stromatolite.

Don't think it's stromatolite. How about pics of the crust ? If it's a type of coral, there should be some indication in the crust.

could be mozarkite since i bought a little of that at the same time.. but I relate mozarkite with pastels and not really pastel colors but could be an unusual piece of it..and it definitely has a cherty rind.
