I think there is a lot of colors of Adventurine according to your tumbles Snuffy.I think it is felspar and tumbles quick?Georgia has some fine felspar colors w/all the granites here.I know a creek that is loaded w/felspar of all colors(not that petty except some wicked pink...).That ocean stuff is awesome.

The aventurines are quartz. The minerals included give it the aventurescense, hence the name. Many colors, peach, yellow, reds, blues, purples. The rock shed has 5 different colors for sale. snuffy

I love ocean stuff. Mixing of land and sea...all that entropy puts out so much beauty.

Great job on all of it Snuffy but I love that OJ! The variety of colors, patterns, and textures make it my favorite rock to tumble. The varying hardness of it can be a real bugger though with undercutting.

Great shine on the whole batch and I love ocean jasper but there's something really cool about that yellow adventurine.

Aventurine was originally meant to describe metamorphosed quartz and feldspar. The aventurescence (sparkles) comes from the feldspar. I have some and have seen lots that is very obviously feldspar and quartz. In my opinion, the name should at least be restricted to quartzite that shows aventurescence caused by any kind of mineral inclusion. Today though it's often used to describe just colorful quartzite. Some I've seen even makes me wonder if it's been dyed.
What was the OJ like to tumble? More rhyolite than jasper, or the other way around? It all looks great though the dime has seen better days. (not that I would ever spend a silver coin)

(not that I would ever spend a silver coin) I'm with you on the aventurescense! This yellow has none, the peach I've bought has none.Really the only tumbles that I ever did were green and blue that showed it well. This was bought as aventurine,as well as peach. The greens and blues were from an old collection. The OJ tumbled well,no problem. That coin is a standing liberty quarter! snuffy

Let me step forward and ask a question. What is in the second pic? I know what a pretty rock looks like and they are but I have no clue what they really are. I have a handful of those and was actually discussing them with my son tonight. They look like they'd be hard to tumble.

After the rotary, these went 4 days 1000 ao prepolish, then 3 days ao polish in the Lotos.I usually go 3 days each, but sometimes I get lazy. These are the only 2 stages that I use the Lot-o for.

So far I get mixed results in my Lot-O. I am not sure if I am simply not getting it loaded/cushioned correctly or not. I always end up with a couple stones with rubs/unpolished ends on them. Most come out fine..but that couple each time is annoying. I end up tossing them back into 220..
