Congrats!!! That is huge. When things first started going south we concentrated on getting rid of our mortgage and credit debt, and ceased to buy anything on credit. It took some sacrifices, but we now owe no one a single penny. When the next crash comes, I would not want to be in a mortgage.

Congrats, Mike! Isn't it a great feeling? We bought our house 22 years ago, and we paid it off about a year and a half ago. Now, if I just didn't have to pay over $2500 in property taxes each year...
In fact, just mailed a check for the second half yesterday. And the county was whining on the news that over half the property owners had not paid their taxes yet. HELLO??? Do they not realize how people are struggling? They're going to be lucky if most people pay their taxes by the due date - or at all... Jean

Payed the wifes car off last spring...Now the house. All thats left is my trk, thats looking to be about a year or so..... We don't do credit cards and never will...What's in the wallet and purse is what we deal with.....

Outstanding! Congratulations and I'll bet that does feel fantastic. I'm with you. No longer buy anything on time. Use a credit card but it auto pays off every month. No mortgage anymore and don't buy what we can't afford. Only way to go and gives one a definite sense of freedom.....Mel

Congrats, Mike. We're looking at about 10 more years if we can continue to pay extra.
