Well I was shooting off my assumptions and ignorance in another thread and thought I should start my own. After some research I was wondering why I couldn't find the references to pork or earmarks and all that jazz for anything after 2010. Turns out as you all may know that earmarks were banned in 2010. Sounds like we are making progress, sort of. Call me cynical but some how I don't believe that the spending has slowed. Here's an article along that line of thinking. www.taxpayer.net/media-center/article/congressional-spending-requests-less-transparent-critics-sayYou can't get mad if you don't know where your money goes. Apparently though it's not getting spent on enough things at home. Does anyone have some more ideas and articles, databases etc... on where our money goes ? Bridges to nowhere and all ?? Somebody educate me since we live in a new and transparent world now. Personally I'd like to move to Lake Wobegon if I could ever find it. Just cutin' and polishin' rocks before we head to the Chatterbox cafe' for that cup of coffee. Thanks in advance to all that help me figure this out.

Got to be funny when all the repugs were bashing Obama’s stimulus in public and begging Chu et al behind the scene.
And they always managed to show up at the ribbon cutting back home for the new LED traffic lights in front of The Waffle Hut.

I like the way Jon Stewart puts it best: www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/01/08/jon-stewart-rips-paul-ryan-a-new-one-over-sandy-relief-funds/House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) brought rebuke from within his own party after failing to hold a vote on Sandy relief before the 112th Congress ended. Though the House of Representatives later passed the non-controversial legislation, 67 Republicans voted against it, including Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI). “This is just a simple down the middle, black and white, cut and dry, warm cup of what would Jesus or any other human being that is not an asshole do, and you blew it,” Stewart remarked.
Ryan said he opposed the disaster relief funds because the legislation contained “pork-barrel spending.”
“It’s one <bleeping> page,” Stewart said, aghast. “It’s two paragraphs that add 9.7 billion to the national flood insurance program and nothing else. There is as much pork in here as in the mini-fridge in the break-room at PETA. There is no pork in this thing!” Note that THEN, 3 months after this vote, Paul Ryan asked for pork for Wisconsin. Funny funny funny.
