Are these going to the tumbler? If so, I bet you have a long wait, and still may not ever get them all totally smooth as it appears to me that they have lots of deep depressions in a lot of them. The reds are wonderful! They look like they'd take a good tumble polish. A cool find, for sure. Glad to hear that the sand only went to your bett, and not your neck! Even at that, you were lucky to get out. Be careful!

Thanks everybody....If I do polish these they will go in the 220 for 2 days and 500 for 2 days then burnish ,polish ,burnish over 5 days...All done in the vibe...I tend to keep the stones as natural as possible...Except shinier ;D....I am thinking of investing in a large grappling hook and rope and keeping it on my backpack..Like Batman ;D..JOhn

Those look like some very nice finds, especially the red ones. The only "soft sand" I've ever come across was quick sand, and I managed to avoid it. I've gotten my butt wet plenty of other times though.

Where were you finding these?? The tan ones, like the one you are holding in the next to last photgraph, are one of my absolute favorites. I would love to go hunt them in person!
Great stones!

Glad to hear that I am not the only one who looks at the gravel in parking lots and driveways! I've seen my husband look visibly  embarrassed  when I do this. Here in SE Tennessee I find crinoids and only the occasional agate.

Nice finds! The "outstanding red" one reminds me of a Fairburn. A few of the other red ones look like Lakers and the tan ones look like Crowley Ridge. The all get washed downstream...
