I got a Thumler UV 10 Vibe for my Bday early this month, and I've been impatiently awaiting my first batch. This was truly an experiment, since I couldn't seem to wait long enough for each step. I moved many on that shouldn't have been, just to see what would happen. This was definitely an experiment, and I learned a lot. Will post more and better pics of some of the better ones, but I wanted to get one picture up right away. So, here it is...random mess. About 4 days in a rotary, two days in fine grit, two days prepolish, and only 2 1/2 in polish. Like I said...impatient!! Next batches will use what I learned. Thanks for looking! you have a good start. Keep the ones your happy with and put the rest back in rotation to use as filler rocks in your future rotary stages.
Thanks for posting. Its fun to watch folks progress on here.

Those don't look too bad for a really fast batch. My rocks usually spend months in the rotary coarse grind stage. It gets easier to wait after a while. It also helps to buy more tumblers so you can check them more than once a week!

More rotary barrel capacity was my only solution to my impatience. My formula now is that if I keep most of my rotary barrels going which is usually 24-36 pounds at a time then each week I end up with 3-5 pounds of pit free nicely rounded rocks that are ready to move to my lot-o vibe. This has been working great and gives us one batch of finished rocks each week.

As long as you are having fun its OK. Anytime it stops being fun, stop and read the directions again, and reach for a new batch of rocks. As long as you get one or a few rocks of which you are proud, you are making progress. Adelante and I should note I enjoyed the Grand Canyon photos - some are downright mystical. Tom

Lol..forgot about some of the stuff in my photostream... That was the North rim of the Grand Canyon. It was amazing..took the kids on a summer road trip through 4 national parks in a week. They don't have quite the same appreciation of rocks and geology that I do, but I tried to influence them a bit . I did get some good rocks out of the batch. Some of the sea jasper came out really nice. I had a thinner one break some time during the polish step which probably scratched some of the others. I'll remove the thin ones next time. Also got a couple nice agates. My plume agate in the bunch needs a retry. I got many cracks between the clear quartz and the other parts of the rock. I'm not sure it will get better if I take more off, though. That's the fun of tumbling...try it and see!

It looks like you got a nice mix there. You can always start the whole batch over. And your photos are vey nice.

Nice photos of the Grand Canyon. My younger son wants to visit! And good job on the first tumble.
