Hi everyone! My name is Camilla, and I rather recently got into the rock tumbling hobby. Tumbling a batch of sodalite now, and I'm ridiculously curious to see how it turns out... hope I won't destroy them completely. xD Anyhow, I'm from Sweden, I'm studying web design at the moment (though I have quite a few years of Japanese studies + a tiny bit of graphic design, 3D and art studies behind me) and I like pottering about with pretty things. Love reading, especially fantasy and historical stuff. I live next to fields and forests with my family, not too far away from Gothenburg. I first came into contact with the noble art of rock tumbling last year, when I sold jewelry for a friend of my grandmother's at a local market. Afterwards I became curious about making my own jewelry, so I visited him to ask a few things, and then left with a kilo of tumbled rocks + bellcaps. (Let's say there's quite a few crystal necklaces being worn in this neck of the woods nowadays. ) As you might guess, I wanted to try out shaping those rocks myself, so this winter I bought myself a Lortone 33B (well-spent Christmas money!), and now, finally, some tumbling is in the process! I've stumbled upon this forum in my pre-tumbling info search sprees and decided yesterday to become a member. It seems like a lovely place for becoming a bit more knowledgeable and a bit less nervous about the tumbling process. Looking forward to hanging out here! And just out of curiousity... I've seen a few Brits around, but are there other Europeans, I wonder...? Or even Swedes...? Good luck to everyone with their projects. Wishing you all a happy week! // C

There are a good many international members Camilla. On the net it seems like they are 10 feet away.I have been to your beautiful country-Almhults Bruk.Used to visit TEXO,a manufacturer of giant weaving looms(to 28 meters!)and other textile equipment.Great metal workers you Swedes. They made me drink Vodka while naked and (she) served it while we sat in a steam room. Then they broke a hole in the hotel swimming pool ice and made we got in the cold water(again naked).Needless to say,my coworkers posted pics of me back in the states in my birthday suit:>Great hospitality-best bar none!

Thanks Mel! I'll be sure to take pictures if I go off on an adventure. (Actually now that I think of it, I was hounding once maaany years ago with my family and found some amethyst. Should still have those somewhere...) What is Rosie, by the way? Falcon? Eagle? Something else? Looks like a brilliant lady either way!

Thanks Adrian! (And hello București! Seems like a beautiful city, I'd like to visit one day and eat cake!)
I find myself reading through a few too many threads per hour here... lucky this week's studies are already done! ^^'

Camilla, Rosie is a large female dark phase Red Tailed Hawk. I used to work for a raptor rehab/rescue outfit and trained her from a youngster. She had one slightly damaged wing and so was non releasable so I used her in fundraisers and education program presentations for the center. We had a bout 25 birds I worked with and it was great fun. This is Horus, the Peregrine Falcon, my other favorite birdie...Mel This is Luna, the Great Horned Owl. I was saddened to hear that she got sick and died recently. I used to use her at the county fair and she was a sweetie unless you got in her flight when she was defending babies she was fostering or for some reason she felt you were violating her territory. Then, watch out. These are ferocious birds. *L* Rosie, close up:
