I have windows 8 on both my desktop and laptop, what would you like to know?
Oh, to get your regular desktop back (like Windows 7) just click the little flag button on your keyboard between the Ctrl and Alt buttons (bottom left).

John, Move your mouse to the right top corner, and slide or wiggle it around til the settings bar scrolls out. Way easier if you have a touchscreen, which I'm assuming you don't. If you do, just rub your finger across the top right side in a downward slash motion across the screen. Once the little menu tab pops out, touch/mouse click on the settings button at the bottom. In Settings, click on the Change PC Settings at the very bottom right. You will get a new screen with a LOT of stuff to set up on the left side, go down each one and figure out what they all do. To get My Computer pinned to start, open the folder button that says Windows Explorer (to pin ANY program to the taskbar or the start, you can just hold it down for a few secs, and it will give you the option to 'pin to taskbar' or the start menu)... Here, found you graphical directions, easier than reading them: www.nirmaltv.com/2012/03/03/how-to-add-my-computer-to-windows-8-start-screen/Bunch of other helpful hints there too:).

That's why you get 8... bootup instantly, and is a speed demon:).
So it's laid out a bit poorly... but you get used to it, it's SOOOOOOOOOO much faster than 7:P.
