Hello,
I went to a rock yard sale today and got to meet up with two of our RTH members, Mattatya and Juzwuz. Got some killer stuff. Matt and I both went to Juzwuz's house after the sale and came home with a couple more pieces of killer stuff! (Justin had to make room for what he bought at the sale, LOL!!!)
There was a piece that I bought that I can not identify. It was orby and I liked it but even the owner couldn't remember what it was.
Here is the cut side:
And the rough side:
If someone could tell me what this 3 lb chunk is, I would GREATLY appreciate it!!!
Here was my little 5 gallon haul (about 35lbs):
From the sale I got Birds Eye Rhyolite, Crazy Lace, Polish Flint, Nicolite, Rocky Butte, and a different picture jasper that I am forgetting the name of right now (rolling hills with some green), Lapis something or other (I think it is Desert Lapis/Dumortierite), Purple Burro Creek with dendrites, India Green moss, some other kind of US moss, Rainforest Jasper, Zebra Marble, Fireworks (or Firecracker?) Obsidian, some Ocean Jasper and my favorite from the sale, Lilly Pad Jasper.
Here's a pic of the Lilly Pad:
A nice piece of OJ:
This piece of Polish Flint I am going to call "Funky Lady". I'm going to trim off the right side chunk and just polish this piece as I love the picture of the bizarre super smiley girl ;D
The Nicolite is very interesting. I was told that there is a fine line between Nicolite, Jade and Grossular Garnet but he thought this leaned more towards Nicolite. I just thought it looked cool!
The Obsidian:
Then we all went to Justin's!
WOW what an AWESOME guy!!!!! Look what he gave me!!!!!
India Sunstone rough. The rough looks quite blah but wait until it's slabbed! I saw his slabs and the feldspar copper aventurescent sparkle is amazing!
Labradorite:
And Mookite. I really like this stuff because all other Mook I've had has been red but this darker color is completely purple!
Thanks for looking and thanks sooooo much if you can ID the first rock!
ps.... it was soooooo fun getting to meet up with fellow RTH'ers!
