Unfortunately, I haven't had a lot of time to cab. But, today I was severely tempted. I got a charoite from Krystee that she gave up on and guess what..... I gave up, too. LOL! I was grinding away and doing pretty well, thinking- Aw, this ain't so bad. Then it happened. It just busted in two. Yeah, crazy stuff. I was getting the sides beveled with barely any chipping, so I thought it would work out ok, but the white material just separated along the vein and broke it in two. Thanks Krystee, I gave it the old college try. But, I did do a few others and then found some that I forgot I did, so I'm posting those, too. (sorry if I posted them already) Smack down crazy eye popping gorgeous color. Really hard to cab, though. This is half of what I started with. Really sweet copper in matrix from Michigan. Lots of natural copper and a dark webbing. I worried about my wheels, but they did fine. A strange stone. Looks like and was sold a deschutes, but much softer with a duller polish. Any comments on this?? This is quickly becoming my fav stone. I love it. Lucky for me, I've managed to pick up quite a bit. Indonesian agatized Fossil Palm Root or wood however you want to call it- I've seen it both ways. OK, is this cool or what? This was the worst piece on the slab, but I wanted to use every bit of it. I've never seen orbs like this on an OJ. This one has lots of glue. Can you say giraffe? Beautiful Sonora Sunrise cuprite. This slab was a minefield of hidden fractures. This shape came from what was left of another. I like it though. There's a seller I like who sells really crap Chinese cut cabs of this Chinese turquoise. The turquoise is beautiful. I buy it to recab it. The color is through and through. I think it is just stabilized. Thanks for looking

Great show! Could the brown cab be Biggs?
I agree with your choice of the Indonesian agate ex fossil palm root. There's a lot going on. The red Sonoran Sunrise is stunning in color and shape.
Thanks for the show!

I too wondered if the deschutes was biggs - the do seem to overlap in appearance.
the OK orbs are odd. is do see giraffe
I would say that you manage very good cabs despite challenged material in some cases. that might be more to you credit than getting a great cab from great material. Although the Indonesian palm would be great material. I love those tan flames leaping into the black. this one almost seems to be tan splashing into black. I like it whether flaming or splashing.

The Deschutes may well be brown Biggs. It doesn't get the porcelain shine like the best Deschutes or Blue Biggs, but IMO the contrast between light brown, dark brown and black dendrites makes for a much more striking picture. All the Biggs and Deschutes varieties come from just a few miles of the hills on the Columbia river gorge. Your palm is super nice, palm root is a favorite of mine.

Hey Tela those are an unusual bunch of cabs! Love the palm root! that stuff is cool. The picture jasper has to be from that general Biggs, Dechutes area there are a lot of different digging areas there that are pretty close together from what I understand. In Oregon there is lots of cool stuff................Hub

Thank you all for the great comments. ;D
I can't wait to bust into some more of that OJ and get a few better cabs from it.
I think I will call that Deschutes, a Biggs. Thanks for your input on that.

Super stones and even better handy-work. Love the Palm and already reserved some for the next parcel coming my way from Indonesia. Bob of Bobby1 did the first I ever saw and have been looking for some ever since. That's a trend I'm willing to follow.

I'm thinking the "Deschutes" is probably brown Biggs, as stated above or Royal Sahara. I've seen some folks selling the Royal Sahara as Biggs and Deschutes. Definitely a buyer beware situation. They are all great pieces though and that palm root is incredible!!!!! Beautiful job on all!!!!!

Thanks Tommy- that first stone is an old school chrysocolla. I don't know from where, though it is from the US. Cathy- I'm thinking Biggs, too. It definitely is not RSJ, though.

No, Judy, no worries, I haven't started cutting any of the GORGEOUS slabs that I got from you, yet. This was something I've had a while. However, the palm root I got from you is very tempting.... I may cut that first. I have to pace myself on it, though. LOL!

Nice Tela!!
Don't worry about your wheels. Copper is WAY softer than most stones you are cabbing.

WOW Tela, LOVE LOVE LOVE the Indo Palm!!!!! I am so sorry to hear about the Charoite... Some of that stuff is just plain and simply a complete BUGGER! At least I feel a little bit better that it was just bum material and not just me lacking the skills to cab it, LOL!

The palm root is simply amazing. No wonder it's your favorite and it's also mine.
