So that Searcher's show was really good! Found some really sweet rocks! My favorite. It's glass - the seller jokingly calls it "Boba glass", for the boba-like balls. This seller should be at the Culver City show in mid July too. Then we have Opalite from Australia. I superglued the back, hopefully it holds together when I cut it. Neato unknown flame: Then another favorite of mine -- unknown -- any ideas as to what it is? Then, for I think $2 from the silent auction, a chunk of this stuff. I don't know if the matrix will polish, but at $2, worth a chance. Also unknown, any ideas? My next favorite: Ira Beach Jasper. There's this guy Ira in the Searcher's club, quite a character. Looks just like this other guy in the club, Tracy, also quite a character. They're like twin brothers, both super nice and interesting and older dudes with Buzz cut flat tops, both tall thin beanpoles. Anyway, I got a whole bunch of slabs from Ira, and he has this type of brecciated jasper with lovely earth tones he says he finds on some beach somewhere, which I am now in love with: Cold Mountain Egg slice: Arizona Pet Wood slice: (fractures could be problematic, we shall see) A jasper slabette from Ira for a Bobby1-esque cab: Washington Serpentine: Unusual (to me) CA rhodonite from Wrightwood: That's it for now . . . going to cut them all up first thing tomorrow morning and wake up all the neighbors with my loudest saw!

Wow, a lot of nice material there but that Cold Mountain Egg blows me away. It looks like Butterfly Jasper on LSD. What colors!. That plume intrigues me too but I can't place it...Mel

Mel, that cold mountain egg slice was $3. Those Searchers sellers know how to price a slab!

Worthwhile trip, eh?
Great stuff. Usually hate the manmade stuff, but that glass looks like some wild malachite...

Nice score Susan. I like that beach jasper. Cool stone and it looks solid Are these your layouts on the slabs? That Az wood is a very nice piece of picture wood. Just be careful working it. If it comes apart on ya while you're working it, the edges can be razor sharp so don't try and grab for it! Your Washington serpentine look more like Washington opal than serp. That flame is just incrediable!!!

You scored big-time, Susan. Andrew and I spent almost the whole time in the silent auction ... and got outbid quickly over and over again. Talk about a competitive bunch! Those are beautiful pieces.

John only had green boba glass with him this time, but who knows, maybe he has other colors at home? John said he would have it at the Culver City show too (July 13/14). I cut a couple preforms, it cuts just fine, not very chippy. The greeeeeeen Washingtion Serpentine shatterd and broke all over the place when I cut it. Hm. Might have to do the drop test prior to trying again with it.

Awesome finds! I'm loving that boba glass, I thought it was a killer slab of translucent Ocean Jasper at first! Beach Jasper looks amazing too. Can't wait to see the cabs!

Those cold mountain eggs might make a really interesting sphere, Scott. And they're already more or less round!
