I finished early enough to take pictures while the sun was still out, for once . . .
Treasures!!!!!
Some Dumortierite from an estate sale (divorce sale actually, lady sold me all ex-hubby's rocks for $35!)
Lavic moss (thanks, Lady's ex-hubby!)
Hubby had this sweet piece of ?? Chapinite??? (more pinker and beautiful-er than this, camera screwed up)
Hubby also had this nice chunk of Carnelian from who knows where:
I did a so-so job slabbing a so-so-plus piece of royal velvet o'sid from Zippy:
This is the best slab:
Something green/blue:
A preform from a niiiiice slab or Serape I got on ebay: You can see the big "before" preform before I started revising it downward:
Because I STILL haven't learned that my saw blade extends farther on the bottom of the slab where you can't see it, doh!!! I was so annoyed, those little diagonal cuts for "secondary" cabs screwed up my primary cab I wanted from the slab, garrrrrhhhh! Anyway, so here is my Plan B:
Looks kind of sad as an oval, compared to the glorious rectangle it was meant to be . . . sigh.
And another from the slab (I'm afraid to look at the back of it now . . .)
A piece of turquoise from my trip to the Royston mine back in April (highly recommended) . . .
This one is the fault of either Wampidy or Jake's Rocks . . . whichever of them keeps posting when Rockman69 posts new rocks for sale on ebay . . . and they are also the reason Rockman69 now has a private jet and I ride my bike to work . . . (sigh). But I have pretty rocks . . .
Grape jelly opal from AU:
Brazilian Turquoise from LovelyElk on Ebay (lots cheaper than USA or even Chinese Turquoise). The gold spiderwebs polish nice. You have to pick and choose which part of the rock you work with, but it's really pretty stuff.
African Turquoise from Artemis on ebay:
Also cheaper than USA or Chinese turquoise. I haven't tried to cab this one yet though. Seems solid but a little grainy. We'll see.
