This is just a fraction of the stuff that I got at the estate sale where I met fish at the end of last month. Figured I better get some pics posted, before I go to yet another sale - lol! I know what some of the stuff is, chime in if you recognize anything!
1. Just one of the pieces of Dino bone. Picked up several slabs and a few chunks, like this one.
2. Birdseye (frogskin) serpentine
3. Palm wood
4. Howardite (was already written on there!)
5. Don't knowite
6. Myrickite, an ore of mercury. Hubby spotted/uncovered this treasure with his eagle eyes among the rocks lying in the backyard.
I wouldn't have known what it was, but for the story and photo in the latest Rock & Gem magazine.
7. Picture jaspers
8. Bird track jasper
9. Assorted nodules, geodes (oco and coyamito?) and thundereggs - BOOM! - plus an agte or two. I cut most of these open last week, a few were already cut.
10. More
11. Some type of agate?
12. A bigger agate
13.This one is really cool! Has an almost chatoyant look in the blue streaks
14. This one might not get cut, just face polished... or maybe a set of earrings?
Wow, that was tedious, posting pics one at a time! I'm sure I'll find a quicker way, maybe comma separated?
Anyway, the estate sale was fantastic. I picked up 3 soda flats of about 30 to 35 slabs each at $3 a flat, a few specimens, and a few other things that were priced individually. Since all the rocks on the ground in the backyard were FREE, we only spent $20, what a deal. We brought home about 3 bucketloads worth of rocks ('cept they were in boxes because I didn't bring any buckets - DOH!) Didn't plan on picking up any rough, but just couldn't turn it down. We got there before it opened at 8 am, and stayed about three hours.
I've got lots more stuff, will take pics and post part 2 when I have more time. Thanks for looking! Jean
