Before the BBQ and silent auction becomes just a vague and fuzzy memory, decided I better get
photos up!
1. Picked up a couple of buckets of rough. I had my eye on three of them, but someone wanted
something in one of them real bad! They hovered over the bidding form, so they could change
their bid quickly when someone else upped it (which my husband and I both did several times).
They upped the price on one of these as well, but eventually decided to focus on the other bucket.
I paid $3 and $15 for these - It was still a great deal.
2. Contents of one of the buckets
3. Closer shot
4. The other bucket
5A. This rock intrigued me - anybody know what it is? Suggestion - Chinese Writing Stone.
5. The white kind of looks feldspar-ish?
5C. A good sized chunk of it
6. Some thundereggs, already cut, no pairs and a septarian nodule
7. A few more added
8. Peach aventurine, chrysocolla in seams, dino bone top center, obsidian, others
9. A nice agate quarter, don't know what kind (suggestions - TeePee Canyon, Fairburn?)
10. Possible TeePee Canyon?
11. I think this one is my favorite! (Suggestion - Laguna Lace?)
12. Thought the left one may be lepidolite, but it's not grainy. Right, lavender agate, aka sponge agate from Mexico.
13. Got a bag of Botswanas for $3
14. This big one was in one of the buckets
15. A nice scenic agate
16. A bag of mostly slabettes, inexpensive
17. Amethyst w/quartz and pyrite?
18. Imperial Jasper slab I got from one of the vendors (thanks, Richard). The brown chunk
at the bottom had a fracture and broke off in transit
19. Rainforest Jasper from same vendor.
20. From a different vendor, I got a box of Pilbara Picasso jasper. Five slabs for $5
21. Also got this box of Kaleidoscope jasper for $5
I think I did real good! We also won a small chunk of shaped and polished malachite in the
raffle. But the icing on the cake was the 20" Rose Rociprolap. I'm just itching to start using it!
But, alas, life and other projects keep getting in the way.
I think I'll spare you the photos of the rest of the haul. Thanks for looking! Jean
