I'm so excited I can barely contain it! Had an interview today and got the job!!!!! I am now the new part time employee at Earthlight Rock & Gems! I start formal training on Thursday plus did a little bit of training today. I realized that I am going to gain so much knowledge about minerals and other rocks I have never heard of before!!! Lol! Slabs somewhat but the minerals? This will be a whole new ball game for me ID'ing minerals on their host rocks. The cathedrals though, wow. And a bunch of other stuff like out of this world carvings, spheres, and now I need to learn all of the fossils too!!!
Oh, and of course I need to learn how to open and close, how to take custom jewelry orders, etc and etc and etc........ I get two full days of training before I work solo for part of a day. I know I can do this and I am soooooooo looking forward to it!

Oh darn Krystee, you went and got my dream job. Congratulations. It is my dream job Don! The owner, Kim, is a member of my rock club. Last winter I told her to keep me in mind if she ever needed a new employee. (No one ever leaves her shop). I even went so far as sending her my resume to show her that I was serious!!!! Well, many months went by and I got the magical phone call!!! She said that one of her employees health had deteriorated to the point of her not being able to work anymore. I went in today and my interview was so much fun!!! (It lasted 3 hours because it turned into a mini training session 1/2 way in) She even had me close my eyes while she walked around the shop picking up rocks and putting them on a tray. She then asked me to ID them all! I got a lot of them right but missed some...... a "black" moonstone, a gemmy orange calcite, and a killer Russian Eudialyte. (and a couple others) Some of them threw me off because they were polished and I've only seen rough before! Anyways, I feel like a whole new door is opening up for me that is far beyond just lapidary!!!!!!!

I bet they don't know what a gem they hired. Don't shade their items with yours. At least for the moment.
