Can you 3D print a lump of clay? Chia pets must be porous so it holds water. I know this, because I have had a chia pet before:). It only stayed hairy for like a week before I forgot about it, and it dried up:(. No, you 3D print in wax. Then make a mold. The scanner is a laser scanner. Maybe I should look into using images to generate the files. Costco is now doing similar. They put you in a scanner, scan you, calculate your size and shape, then send the files to the CAM fabric cutter who then cuts out the panels; then an expert sewer puts it all together for a custom fitted suit in a few days! Mel, that makes you a seed saver!!! lol
